A Tiny Show and a Big Thank You

 The inaugural show for the gallery has officially been wrapped up, and I'd say that it was a success! Thank you to our four wonderful artists, Ann Baer, Penny DeCamara, Leah Cashaw, and Jodi Brzezinksi, who trusted us with their work and pulled through with some gorgeous tiny art on such short notice. Please enjoy a collage of some of the many wonderful works.

ART CALLS:

We also made the decision to update our current call for art from National Black Cat Appreciation Day, to Summer's Not Over Yet. Feel free to create a 2D or 3D piece that showcases summer, or what that means for you. Size restrictions are necessary due to the nature of the dollhouse, so please limit your piece(s) to no larger than 8 inches tall. we're accepting up to 5 pieces per artist.

The call closes on August 24th, and the show will run from August 30th through September 27th.

  Hello, and welcome to the official blog for The Gossamer Gallery, a tiny art gallery located inside of a dollhouse near Milwaukee, WI. How to submit a proposal for a solo show

  Do you want to be featured in your own tiny art show? Here's how to apply: 1. Please send an email to   thegossamergallery@gmail.com.   In the subject line, write "show proposal". 2. If this will be a solo, or group show, and include the names and social media/website links and email/contact info for all interested people.  3. The show title, and include an artist's statement(s) if you have one. 4. The approximate number and sizes of works for the show, medium (photography, sculpture, drawings, etc.) and if the artworks will be for sale. If the art is for sale, please indicate the best way for potential buyers to contact you.  5. Please include 3-5 photo examples of the work to be shown, as well as any specific instructions for how the art should be displayed, or if you're giving Gossamer Gallery the right to choose how to display your work.  If you're selected for a show, the gallery will be in contact to set up the dates the show will run, as well ...

One Hundred and Some Hoopla!

 Today was a day of celebrations. I attended the opening reception of the WVA "From Where I Sit" show at Lakeland University in Plymouth, WI tonight, where Gossamer Gallery made it's official public debut. It was an evening of incredible art and many heartfelt conversations. It's always a joy to have the opportunity to come together with other artists and discuss our process.  I also got to speak with students who attend Lakeland University, where GG was a big hit! I invited students and other artists to apply for shows in the gallery, and discussed the behind the scenes of building the gallery, the sneaky features (like how the staircase to the artist studio folds up to hide in the ceiling for do not disturb work time).  One excellent feature of the gallery tags for the art in this show is a space where we got to put a QR code for our work.
